For my final piece I decided to go with the idea of layering and using it to promote how people can be feeling underneath. We are surrounded by people with emotions often people show positive emotions such as happiness, joy and a stable state of mind However people can often build a mental barrier like another surface to block people seeing the truth and how they are struggling.
People are often scared of judgements afraid people won't understand and from a personal view I have found it hard my whole life to understand my sister who is diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I feel I can connect this topic because it expresses how I feel about a few people, I just feel even when people don’t think they have barrier there is.
For my work I used double exposure technique using the app snapseed to over lay different emotions I focused on starting with a black and white image of the emotion sadness I then built it up by over laying emotions they would use to cover up and show the outside work they were okay when deep down they aren’t. I also produced a piece which show 3 different people but the same emotions it's my favorite because it shows you aren't the only struggling and there are other people just like you and they shouldn’t feel like an odd one out. During this piece I have researched emotions, mental health and effect long term It helped with my outcome because I understand the topic clearly. For my work I used the mix of brighter colours against darker ones. The darker colours show the negative emotions which they tried to forget about it worked well against the brighter colours which stands for the happier emotions and what they try to present to the outside world
